Organizational Context
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Job Purpose
To facilitate and reinforce PAHO's support towards the coordinated implementation of the One Health Initiative in Guyana, as operationalized under Guyana's One Health Project, focusing on strengthening One Health Coordination and Capacity.
Responsibilities
Facilitate the conceptualization, development, and implementation of technical deliverables under the One Health grant agreement. Coordinate One Health activities with national authorities and technical committees. Coordinate input from technical advisors on guidance documents and resources. Reinforce International Health Regulations (IHR) capacities, particularly at points of entry. Support the updating of the National Multi-Hazard Emergency Management Plan and regional plans, including developing a monitoring and evaluation manual. Support capacity building activities and progress monitoring of IHR capacities. Prepare technical progress reports on IHR capacity building and workplan implementation. Identify and support mitigation actions for risks, constraints, and bottlenecks. Support stakeholder consultations and intersectoral coordination related to One Health and IHR. Prepare inputs for technical reports, briefs, and presentations. Support meetings, workshops, and technical missions related to the One Health Project. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Experience
At least 7 years of combined national and international experience in One Health and/or International Health Regulations (IHR). Experience working with PAHO and in inter-programmatic collaborations with the Ministry of Health, Non-Governmental Organizations, or United Nations Agencies is desirable.
Skills
Strong knowledge and experience in One Health, IHR, disaster risk reduction, disaster management, emergency preparedness and response, humanitarian assistance, capacity building, and monitoring and evaluation. Excellent organizational, analytical, oral, and writing skills for report development, presentations, and technical documents. Excellent coordination, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with experience in coordinating multiple stakeholders. Experience supporting the implementation of donor-funded projects, including planning, monitoring, and reporting. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with UN or PAHO administrative, financial, and procurement processes, and previous experience working in Guyana are desirable.
