Organizational Context

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Job Purpose

To support the structuring, organization, and strengthening of the Amazon-Darién Network for Emerging Zoonoses with Epidemic Potential (RADE) and contribute to the development and implementation of One Health strategies for the prevention, preparedness, and response to emerging zoonoses.

Responsibilities

Support the structuring, organization, and strengthening of the RADE; contribute to the development and implementation of One Health strategies for emerging zoonoses; support the elaboration, review, and consolidation of technical documents, strategic reports, and operational instruments related to RADE; develop technical and methodological materials for training and simulation exercises for response to zoonotic events; support the organization and conduct of technical meetings, workshops, and assemblies within the RADE framework; contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the RADE action plan implementation; support the systematization of scientific evidence, best practices, and lessons learned related to the One Health approach; contribute to the articulation with national and international partner institutions; support the technical analysis of zoonotic events and risks associated with the human-animal-environmental interface; elaborate technical products to support decision-making in public health emergencies; participate in technical meetings, workshops, and technical cooperation activities.

Work Experience

Essential: Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in public health. Experience in zoonoses and One Health approach; public health emergencies; and working with international organizations. Desirable: Experience with international organizations; coordination of projects and collaborative networks; and work in the Amazon region or in contexts of high vulnerability.

Skills

Advanced knowledge in One Health approach and emerging zoonoses; experience in surveillance, preparedness, and response to public health emergencies; experience in epidemiological data analysis and evidence production; experience in elaborating technical documents and strategic reports; experience in intersectoral articulation and coordination of networks and partnerships; experience in developing and conducting training and simulation exercises; ability to work in complex and multidisciplinary contexts. Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Power-point, SharePoint, Outlook, OneDrive and Word) and virtual conferencing and collaboration tools, such as Zoom and Teams.
