Job Purpose
To contribute to the development of a national plan for the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B, and Chagas (ETMI Plus) in Argentina, in line with PAHO/WHO guidelines. This involves analyzing the epidemiological and programmatic situation, identifying priority provinces, coordinating with provincial health teams, facilitating training, and supporting the documentation of progress towards validation or the creation of provincial roadmaps for elimination.
Responsibilities
Review and analyze technical documents, norms, reports, databases, and indicators related to ETMI Plus, with an emphasis on HIV and syphilis. Define technical criteria and identify 4-5 priority provinces for advancing towards elimination or requiring programmatic support. Organize and support technical visits to prioritized provinces, systematizing findings and recommendations. Coordinate and facilitate training for management and health teams on ETMI Plus, covering elimination criteria, data analysis, diagnosis/treatment algorithms, and case follow-up. Guide the collection of evidence and indicators, and support the elaboration of validation reports for provinces meeting elimination criteria. For provinces requiring strengthening, define priority gaps, actions, responsibilities, timelines, and indicators, and support the development of provincial roadmaps towards ETMI Plus elimination.
Work Experience
Essential: At least 5 years of experience in HIV, STIs, maternal and child health, epidemiological surveillance, or public health; preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV and/or syphilis; epidemiological and programmatic data analysis; preparing or reviewing technical reports, strategic documents, or roadmaps; and coordinating with national or subnational teams. Knowledge of PAHO/WHO recommendations on EMTCT or ETMI Plus is also essential. Desirable: Experience in documenting progress, validation, or verification of elimination; knowledge of hepatitis B or Chagas within the ETMI Plus framework; experience in facilitating workshops or training sessions; and knowledge of information systems, indicator monitoring, and data quality.
