Organizational Context
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Job Purpose
To technically support the implementation of project interventions aimed at strengthening access, coverage, and quality of maternal, sexual, and reproductive health services in prioritized departments. This includes building health personnel capacities, supporting maternal mortality reduction, fostering collaboration between health services and traditional birth attendants, promoting community actions for sexual and reproductive rights, implementing prevention strategies, and strengthening territorial governance and intersectoral coordination.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support for the implementation of maternal, sexual, and reproductive health interventions. Coordinate and implement workshops on governance of health policies and programs. Strengthen health service networks and referral systems, including quality measurement and improvement plans. Develop capacities of health personnel through training on maternal care, obstetric emergencies, ETMI Plus, contraception, sexual violence, and humanized care. Support strategies for managing postpartum hemorrhage and gestational hypertension. Facilitate intercultural dialogues and strengthen the role of traditional birth attendants. Coordinate community actions and communication campaigns on sexual and reproductive rights and prenatal care. Support vaccination strategies for pregnant women and HPV. Prepare periodic technical reports and monitor project indicators and progress.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of experience in maternal, sexual, and reproductive health. A minimum of three years of experience working with or as a counterpart to the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MSPAS) in the project's prioritized departments. A minimum of three years of experience in implementing maternal, sexual, and reproductive health projects in the prioritized departments.

Strategic planning competency for designing, formulating, managing, developing, monitoring, and evaluating maternal, sexual, and reproductive health plans and projects.
