Organizational Context

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is a UN-related agency focused on promoting humane and orderly migration. It supports governments and migrants, saves lives, protects people on the move, and facilitates regular migration pathways. The Photography & Videography Consultant will support the IOM Sudan Mission, reporting to the Head of Communications Unit, to enhance AV content production and visual communications.

Job Purpose

The Photography & Videography Consultant will support the IOM Sudan Mission by producing high-quality audio-visual content and visual materials. This role is crucial for documenting IOM's activities, creating compelling human-interest stories, and enhancing external communications through engaging photography and videography. The consultant will be responsible for capturing, editing, and optimizing content for various platforms, including social media and donor reports, ensuring adherence to IOM's branding and editorial standards. This position directly contributes to the mission's communication objectives and the effective dissemination of its work and impact.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute field visits to capture high-quality audio-visual content, including photographs, video footage, and audio recordings of IOM activities and beneficiaries. Edit and post-produce content into short video features, human-interest stories, reels, and photo essays for social media and external communications. Operate and maintain professional media equipment to ensure high technical standards during field and event coverage. Provide photography, videography, and live media support for mission events, campaigns, and official visits. Ensure all audio-visual products and visual materials comply with IOM branding, editorial standards, and donor visibility requirements. Organize, tag, and maintain the mission’s audio-visual media archive, ensuring systematic backup and accessibility. Format and optimize existing AV assets and graphic materials for digital platforms, donor reports, and publications. Design supporting visual communication materials such as social media graphics, infographics, and presentation slides.

Work Experience

Proven experience as a Photographer/Videographer with a strong portfolio in video editing and photo post-processing. Demonstrated ability to conduct independent field visits to gather audio-visual materials and human-interest stories, preferably in humanitarian or international settings. Experience operating multimedia equipment in field conditions. Graphic design experience for visual materials is a strong advantage. Experience covering events and producing short-form video content for social media.

Skills

Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve) and photo editing software (Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom). Practical knowledge of graphic design tools (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Canva). Excellent writing and editing skills for human interest stories and social media captions. Experience managing social media accounts for reputable organizations.
