Senior Project Associate (IBG)
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN-related organization established in 1951, promotes humane and orderly migration. The Senior Project Associate will provide technical, operational, and administrative support to projects focused on border management, inter-agency coordination, capacity-building, border infrastructure, and community resilience in border areas within Guinea.
Job Purpose
The Senior Project Associate will support the coordination and implementation of Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) projects in Guinea. This role involves assisting with project planning, execution, and monitoring, acting as a liaison with various stakeholders, and ensuring effective administrative and operational support. The position contributes to the overall success of IBG initiatives by facilitating project activities, managing administrative processes, and supporting resource mobilization efforts within the IBG Unit, ultimately aiding IOM's mission to promote humane and orderly migration.
Responsibilities
The Senior Project Associate will assist in planning, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring project activities, including compiling and analyzing project data. Responsibilities include monitoring budget implementation, acting as a focal point for administrative coordination, and drafting status reports and correspondence. The role involves organizing meetings and training sessions, responding to information requests, and maintaining project files. Additionally, the incumbent will liaise with local authorities, partners, and UN agencies, monitor implementing partners, and provide inputs for Standard Operations Procedures and concept papers. The position may also involve guiding and supervising other staff members.
Work Experience
Experience is required in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants and refugees is also necessary. Prior experience in a multicultural setting with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions is advantageous.
Skills
Knowledge of migration governance, border management, and integrated border management approaches. Familiarity with project cycle management, monitoring, and reporting. Strong analytical, drafting, and reporting skills. Ability to coordinate with government counterparts, law enforcement, and development partners. Experience in organizing capacity-building activities and meetings. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
