IOM Libya focuses on protection, border management, health, and voluntary humanitarian return (VHR), particularly along the dangerous Central Mediterranean Route.

Job Purpose

The Senior Case Management Associate (Pre-departure / VHR) plays a crucial role in the Voluntary Humanitarian Return (VHR) program in Libya. This position is responsible for managing and executing pre-departure activities, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of migrant information. By coordinating documentation, verification, and communication, the role directly contributes to facilitating safe, humane, and dignified returns for vulnerable individuals. The associate ensures beneficiaries are prepared for their journey, receive necessary support, and that all operational requirements are met for successful departures, ultimately supporting IOM's mission to provide lifesaving assistance to people on the move.

Responsibilities

The Senior Case Management Associate is responsible for coordinating the receipt and review of travel-ready cases, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate for departure. This includes supervising the verification of travel documents, identifying and resolving discrepancies, and maintaining an organized tracking system. The role involves filtering and categorizing cases based on nationality, location, and urgency, and assigning them to appropriate return pathways (charter, commercial, or fast-track). Responsibilities also include coordinating the preparation of exit visas and passport authority letters, compiling flight manifests, and handing over finalized documents to the operations team. Furthermore, the associate will support beneficiary communication, conduct pre-departure orientations, distribute essential non-food items, and assist with boarding processes. Post-departure, they will follow up on no-shows, record outcomes in the MiMOSA system, and share movement reports.

Work Experience

Previous experience working with NGOs or international organizations is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate accuracy in handling and reporting data. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is also required.

Skills

Intermediate MS Office skills, good organizational and coordination abilities, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the capacity to work with accuracy and attention to detail.
