Job Purpose
The Consultant, Construction Work Supervisor, is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the implementation of construction activities within the project framework. This involves overseeing the construction of integrated health control buildings, animal parks, travel medicine centers, and cold storage facilities at entry points. The role ensures that construction adheres to international health regulations and project specifications, contributing to enhanced public and animal health surveillance at borders. The supervisor will manage contractor performance, report on progress, and ensure compliance with environmental and social safeguards, ultimately supporting the project's goal of strengthening national capacities for health emergencies.
Responsibilities
The Consultant will oversee and evaluate construction and rehabilitation works, ensuring compliance with tender documents, detailed plans, and specifications according to best practices. This includes daily, weekly, and monthly progress reporting, and alerting to potential delays. Responsibilities also involve receiving and inspecting equipment, aggregates, and materials, and formally accepting completed works. The role includes supervising local labor, sensitizing beneficiaries on infrastructure maintenance, and ensuring the implementation of environmental and social safeguard measures. The consultant will also contribute to the sustainability of project actions and perform other necessary tasks, maintaining accurate records and reports.
Work Experience
Requires at least 4 years of professional experience in supervising public works and construction. Experience in applying health, safety, security, and environmental plans on construction sites is necessary. Familiarity with local construction companies and knowledge of project intervention zones are beneficial. Experience with UN agencies or international NGOs is desirable.
