Job Purpose
The Project Associate (Health - IPs) role is to support the implementation and monitoring of health-related projects within the IOM framework. This position involves collecting, analyzing, and presenting project data, managing project budgets, and acting as a focal point for administrative coordination. The role requires close collaboration with internal units and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution, timely reporting, and the identification of corrective actions. The Project Associate contributes to the overall success of IOM's health initiatives by ensuring efficient operations, effective communication, and adherence to project objectives, ultimately supporting vulnerable populations and advancing IOM's mission in migration management.
Responsibilities
The Project Associate will collaborate on project implementation and monitoring, collecting, compiling, and analyzing project-specific data. Responsibilities include budget oversight, verifying fund availability, and obtaining necessary approvals. The role serves as an administrative coordination focal point, liaising with diverse units and external parties to process requests and track actions. The associate will prepare status reports, identify deficiencies, and suggest corrective measures. Duties also involve drafting correspondence, preparing reports, fact sheets, and other documentation. Additionally, the role includes responding to complex information requests, maintaining records, organizing meetings, and participating in coordination meetings with local authorities, UN agencies, and other stakeholders. The associate will monitor implementing partners, provide guidance to new staff, and perform other assigned tasks.
Work Experience
Experience is required in project implementation, monitoring, or coordination within health, humanitarian action, or development sectors. This includes experience coordinating with governmental authorities, national institutions, international organizations, UN agencies, NGOs, and implementing partners. Proficiency in programmatic monitoring, activity oversight, information gathering, and project reporting is essential. Experience working with vulnerable populations such as migrants, displaced persons, host communities, and those affected by emergencies is also necessary. Prior experience in international humanitarian organizations, UN agencies, or donor-funded programs is advantageous.
Skills
Basic knowledge of the project cycle, programmatic monitoring, and results-based management. Understanding of public health principles, humanitarian action, and inter-agency coordination. Ability to collect, consolidate, analyze, and present programmatic and operational information. Capacity to coordinate with multiple internal and external actors in complex operational contexts. Skill in reviewing narrative reports, technical outputs, and programmatic documentation. Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and collaborative tools. Familiarity with digital data collection and monitoring tools like Kobo Toolbox. Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines. Effective communication, report writing, and institutional relationship-building skills. Knowledge of protection principles, AAP, PEAS, and data protection in humanitarian programs.
