Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a United Nations agency dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. It provides services and advice to governments and migrants. This role is based in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, and operates under the direct supervision of the Logistics and Procurement Officer.
Job Purpose
This role supports the implementation of IOM's activities in Burkina Faso by ensuring efficient procurement and logistics operations. The Procurement and Logistics Clerk will assist in managing purchasing activities, supplier relations, and contract administration in compliance with IOM's rules and procedures. The position also involves providing logistical support to the mission's operations, coordinating the reception of goods and services, and maintaining accurate inventory and asset management systems. This role is crucial for the smooth functioning of the mission and the effective delivery of IOM's services to migrants and governments.
Responsibilities
The Procurement and Logistics Clerk will support procurement activities from requisition to purchase order issuance and approval tracking. This includes managing supplier relationships, preparing contracts, and monitoring their execution. The role involves coordinating the receipt of goods and services, ensuring compliance with delivery and payment procedures, and processing payments. Logistical support for mission operations, including deliveries and office activities, is a key responsibility. The clerk will also assist in market analysis, price monitoring, and financial analysis of purchases. Maintaining an efficient inventory and asset management system, ensuring accuracy and optimal resource utilization, is also required. Adherence to internal IOM procedures and performing other related tasks as assigned are essential.
Work Experience
Experience in logistics, administration, or finance, particularly with a UN agency or international organization, is an asset. Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills are necessary for effective teamwork. The ability to work independently under pressure, maintain accuracy, pay attention to detail, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision is essential. Flexibility and a strong commitment to working in challenging conditions are also required. Experience with Oracle/Wave accounting systems and proficiency in MS Office are advantageous.
Skills
Proficiency in French (spoken and written) is required. Good knowledge of English (spoken and written) is desirable.
