Senior Project Associate, Resettlement
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is a UN agency promoting humane and orderly migration. It operates globally, assisting governments and migrants, saving lives, and protecting people on the move. The Movement Operations Units, coordinated by the Resettlement and Movement Management Division, manage all aspects of travel for migrants and refugees under IOM's auspices, adhering to agreements with governments and partners.
Job Purpose
This role supports the management of the Resettlement and Family Reunification Unit within the IOM Country Office in Dublin, Ireland. The incumbent will coordinate key functions related to organized movement operations, a fundamental pillar of IOM's mandate. This involves overseeing the implementation of projects, monitoring activities, and ensuring compliance with IOM policies and donor requirements. The position contributes to facilitating pathways for regular migration and providing essential services and advice to governments and migrants, aligning with IOM's mission to promote humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all.
Responsibilities
Independently lead and coordinate project implementation, monitoring activities, and analyzing challenges to adjust work plans. Research, compile, and analyze data on migration developments, highlighting relevant issues. Monitor budget expenditures and maintain financial records. Coordinate the financial, administrative, and technical aspects of the project according to IOM policies and donor requirements. Plan and conduct capacity-building workshops. Liaise with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, and other stakeholders. Coordinate the preparation of correspondence, reports, and briefing notes, ensuring timely submission. Identify and document best practices and lessons learned, contributing to SOPs and new project development. Supervise and train reporting staff.
Work Experience
Experience liaising with governmental authorities, international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, and victims of trafficking. Prior experience in a multicultural setting with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions is advantageous. Knowledge of Movement Operations SOPs and related systems is a plus.
Skills
Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Internet). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision. High attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Proficient facilitation, writing, and presentation abilities. Strong work ethic and commitment to humanitarian principles.
