Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a leading inter-governmental organization dedicated to humane and orderly migration. IOM Poland, based in Warsaw, implements programs in migration governance, humanitarian aid, refugee response, and integration. This consultancy role is within the Programme Support Unit of the IOM Poland Country Office, contributing to the implementation and development of activities supporting refugees and migrants.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to provide essential programme support services to IOM Poland, directly contributing to the successful implementation and development of initiatives aimed at assisting refugees and migrants. The role involves a range of critical functions including programme coordination, conducting research, preparing comprehensive reports, supporting partnership development, and offering operational assistance. The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the National Programme Officer and the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission, collaborating closely with Programme Managers and relevant programme teams to ensure effective delivery of IOM's mandate in Poland. This position is key to enhancing the organization's capacity to manage migration-related activities effectively.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for preparing various programme documentation, including background papers, briefing notes, concept notes, and presentations. Key duties involve drafting, editing, and formatting reports, proposals, and other programme materials. The role includes conducting research and compiling information on migration, humanitarian assistance, and related thematic areas. Support will be provided for partnership development and external engagement activities. The consultant will also coordinate meetings, workshops, and events, manage logistical arrangements, and prepare agendas and minutes. Data collection, organization, and analysis for programme implementation and reporting are essential. Furthermore, the role involves supporting internal team coordination, assisting with visibility and outreach activities, and providing administrative and operational support for programme development and execution.
Work Experience
Experience supporting humanitarian, migration, international development, or international cooperation programmes is desirable. Strong research, analytical, and drafting skills are essential. Experience in programme coordination or project implementation is considered an advantage, as is prior work with international organizations, government institutions, or NGOs.
Skills
Excellent analytical, writing, and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal and coordination abilities. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Capacity to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
