Communications Consultant
Organizational Context
IOM, established in 1951, is a leading inter-governmental organization in migration. IOM Poland, based in Warsaw, supports migration governance, humanitarian assistance, refugee response, and integration. This consultant role, within the Media and Communications Unit, will enhance the visibility of IOM Poland's activities, focusing on public information, awareness, and multimedia content for ongoing programmes.
Job Purpose
The Communications Consultant will provide specialized support to IOM Poland, aiming to significantly strengthen the visibility of its diverse activities. This involves developing and producing compelling public information and multimedia communication products that effectively highlight ongoing programmes, particularly those concerning refugees and migrants. The role is crucial for raising public awareness and ensuring IOM's impactful work is widely recognized. Working under the direct supervision of the Media and Communications Officer and in close coordination with programme managers, the consultant will contribute to the overall communication strategy and execution, ensuring alignment with IOM's mission and principles of humane and orderly migration. The position is integral to showcasing IOM's commitment and achievements in Poland.
Responsibilities
Support the implementation of IOM Poland's public information, communications, and visibility strategy. Develop diverse communication materials, including digital content such as photography, videography, and social media products, specifically for activities involving refugees and migrants. Conduct photographic and videographic coverage of official visits, meetings, and programme events. Collect testimonials from beneficiaries and stakeholders, adhering to IOM standards. Manage and maintain IOM Poland's digital platforms, including the website and social media, ensuring timely content publication, audience engagement, and brand compliance. Design and produce Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials and other visibility products. Assist in awareness-raising and outreach campaigns. Undertake travel within Poland as needed to document programme implementation. Perform other assigned communications duties.
Work Experience
Required experience includes communications, public information, or media roles, managing social media or digital campaigns, and supporting outreach or awareness initiatives. Experience in photography and videography is highly desirable. Knowledge of migration issues or humanitarian programming is advantageous.
Skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong drafting and reporting abilities. Demonstrated experience in graphic design, photography, videography, and multimedia content production. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro). Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments.
