Organizational Context

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN agency established in 1951, promotes humane and orderly migration. Within the "Leveraging the Potential of Diaspora to Advance EU Accession and Labour Mobility in the Western Balkans (2025–2027)" project, IOM supports North Macedonia in enhancing migration management and aligning with EU standards through policy dialogue and capacity building.

Job Purpose

This role provides crucial technical and organizational support for a national capacity-building initiative in North Macedonia focused on preventing labor exploitation and strengthening cooperation among social partners. The consultant will coordinate the planning and execution of a workshop, ensuring effective dialogue on fair labor practices. The purpose is to facilitate knowledge sharing, identify challenges and best practices, and foster enhanced cooperation among trade unions, employers' organizations, chambers of commerce, and other key stakeholders. Ultimately, the role contributes to strengthening migration management governance and advancing alignment with EU acquis by ensuring the successful preparation, implementation, and reporting of this vital capacity-building activity.

Responsibilities

The consultant will be responsible for the overall planning and organization of the capacity-building initiative. This includes drafting the workshop agenda in consultation with IOM and stakeholders, preparing background documentation, and coordinating participant lists. The role involves providing on-site technical and organizational support during the workshop, including facilitating and moderating discussions to ensure active participation and constructive dialogue. Key tasks also include managing time effectively, introducing speakers, and guiding participants to synthesize key points. Finally, the consultant will prepare a concise workshop report detailing discussions, conclusions, and recommendations, and perform additional coordination tasks as requested by IOM to ensure the activity's successful implementation.

Work Experience

Requires a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in project coordination, stakeholder engagement, workshop organization, or institutional cooperation. Demonstrated experience in facilitating and moderating multi-stakeholder dialogues, particularly involving public institutions and employers'/workers' organizations, is essential. Experience coordinating meetings and consultations is also necessary.
