Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN-related organization established in 1951, promotes humane and orderly migration. This consultancy supports the IOM Health Assessment Programme in Guinea, specifically within the MHAC Unit in Conakry, by providing essential radiologic technology services for refugees and immigrants.
Job Purpose
This consultancy serves as a continuous, task-based support function for the IOM Health Assessment Programme in Guinea. The primary purpose is to conduct screening X-rays for refugees and immigrants, ensuring high-quality diagnostic imaging. The role contributes to the efficient operation of the MHAC Unit in Conakry, supporting the overall mandate of IOM in managing migration health assessments. The consultant will work under the supervision of senior medical staff and with technical guidance from the IOM Teleradiology Center, ensuring adherence to international standards and resettlement country requirements.
Responsibilities
Key duties include performing high-quality chest X-rays according to IOM and international standards, explaining procedures to applicants, and ensuring proper patient identification and data entry. The role involves applying correct radiographic techniques, radiation protection measures, and processing digital images, repeating scans as needed for quality. Responsibilities extend to quality assurance for the X-ray unit, maintaining equipment, optimizing workflow, and preparing statistical reports. The consultant will coordinate with radiologists and Teleradiology Centers, manage image uploading, and ensure timely delivery of reports to panel physicians. Maintaining infection control and a tidy work environment are also crucial. The role may involve acting as a focal person for quality assurance and radiation safety.
Work Experience
Requires three years of radiography experience for Bachelor's degree holders or five years for diploma holders, with a focus on Chest X-Ray. Experience with radiographic techniques, procedures, radiologic safety, quality management, and digital machines is essential. Familiarity with radiology information systems, Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), and experience in health assessment programs are also required.
Skills
Organizational skills, communication skills, and good computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel. Leadership skills are considered desirable.
