This Project Associate role supports the Roma Assistance Programme, focusing on strengthening capacities for readmission and reintegration of vulnerable populations.

Job Purpose

The Project Associate will support the implementation of IOM's Roma Assistance Programme, funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with UNDP, UNFPA, and UNICEF. The role's primary purpose is to strengthen institutional capacities and coordination mechanisms for the readmission and sustainable reintegration of Roma and other vulnerable populations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This involves close coordination with government authorities and institutions at various levels. The position will also be responsible for organizing and following up on project activities such as meetings, trainings, and workshops. Furthermore, the Project Associate will contribute to project documentation, reporting, and professional communication with government counterparts, project partners, and other stakeholders to ensure effective program delivery and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities, including retrieving, compiling, analyzing, and presenting project-related data. Monitor project budgets, verify fund availability, and obtain necessary approvals. Serve as a focal point for administrative coordination, liaising with internal units and external parties to process administrative actions. Draft status reports, identify delivery shortfalls, and propose remedial actions. Prepare and update project documentation, including correspondence, reports, briefing notes, and statistical tables. Respond to information requests, maintain project files, and organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions. Participate in meetings and conferences, and assist in coordinating implementation activities with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, and other stakeholders. Monitor the work of implementing partners and report non-compliance. Provide guidance to junior staff and perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Experience

Experience liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience organizing events and conferences. Proven experience in project cycle management. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, IDPs, and victims of trafficking. Prior experience in a multicultural setting with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions is advantageous.

Skills

Ability to prepare accurate and concise written reports and correspondence. Knowledge of the socio-political and economic context in Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly regarding migration and readmission. Strong coordination and organizational skills for managing meetings, trainings, and workshops. Good analytical skills for data collection, compilation, and presentation. Understanding of project cycle management, including planning, monitoring, and reporting. Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail. Understanding of institutional coordination mechanisms for readmission, reintegration, and social inclusion.
