Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a leading intergovernmental organization promoting humane and orderly migration. In Cameroon, IOM implements diverse programs, where effective communication and visibility are crucial for institutional credibility and stakeholder support. This role provides administrative and operational support to the Communication Unit, assisting in various communication activities and initiatives.
Job Purpose
The Administrative Assistant – Communication role is to provide essential administrative, logistical, clerical, and operational support to IOM Cameroon's Communication Unit. This support is critical for the efficient implementation of communication and public information activities across the Country Office. The position contributes to strengthening institutional credibility, fostering public understanding of IOM's work, promoting accountability, and ensuring robust support from government counterparts, donors, beneficiaries, media, and the general public. By assisting with communication activities, events, digital content management, and media monitoring, the role directly facilitates the visibility and effectiveness of IOM's migration-related programs in Cameroon.
Responsibilities
The Administrative Assistant – Communication will draft and format routine correspondence, collate reports and presentations, and manage incoming calls and visitors, directing inquiries appropriately. Key duties include entering, retrieving, and updating data in various systems, maintaining organized office files, and initiating administrative transactions. The role involves supporting the organization and administration of meetings, workshops, and events by arranging necessary facilities. Additionally, the incumbent will assist with travel arrangements, ensure office supplies are maintained, and oversee the upkeep of office equipment. This position also entails performing other relevant duties as assigned to support the Communication Unit's objectives.
Work Experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Email) is essential. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to organize paperwork methodically. Prior experience working with international humanitarian organizations, non-governmental organizations, or government institutions in a multicultural setting is considered an advantage.

Good written and oral communication skills. Attention to detail and accuracy. Strong interpersonal skills for multicultural environments. Service-oriented attitude and willingness to learn. Fluency in English and French (oral and written) is required.
