Organizational Context

This role is situated within the Coordination Office for the Mediterranean and Chief of Mission in Italy and Malta, specifically based in the Abruzzo Region.
Job Purpose
This role supports the implementation of the Assisted Voluntary Returns and Reintegration (AVRR) project, specifically focusing on training, assistance, and territorial support for efficient voluntary returns. The incumbent will assist in providing counselling and related activities to migrants interested in returning to their countries of origin. The position operates under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, with broader oversight from the Senior Programme Associate (Migration) and the Director of the Coordination Office for the Mediterranean and Chief of Mission in Italy and Malta. The primary goal is to facilitate the AVRR process by providing information, counselling, and administrative support to eligible migrants.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include establishing and maintaining contact with local stakeholders such as municipalities, NGOs, and diaspora groups to enhance AVRR information dissemination and referral mechanisms. The role involves providing AVRR information sessions and personalized counselling to Third Country Nationals (TCNs) considering voluntary return. This includes assisting migrants in completing application forms, submitting them through the online system, and ensuring proper documentation and filing. The incumbent will also disseminate project information materials, coordinate with relevant authorities like Police Headquarters and Prefectures for application processing, and assist in arranging necessary transportation and medical documentation for returnees. Additionally, the role requires collecting data for statistical reporting, contributing to success stories, and performing other project-related tasks as assigned.
Work Experience
Requires at least two years of experience in the migration sector, with a focus on direct assistance to migrant populations, including those in vulnerable situations. Proven experience working with Italian institutions at central and local levels, civil society, and diaspora groups is essential. Experience in a multicultural team environment is also necessary. Previous experience in AVRR counselling is considered an asset.
