AVRR Project Assistant (outreach) Part-Time Veneto
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is a UN-related agency dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. It works with governments and partners to save lives, protect migrants, resolve displacement, and facilitate legal migration pathways. This role is based in the Veneto Region, Italy, and operates under the supervision of the Director, Coordination Office for the Mediterranean, and the Project Coordinator.
Job Purpose
This position assists in the implementation of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) counselling and activities for the project 'Training, Assistance and Territorial Support for the Efficiency of Assisted Voluntary Returns'. The role involves providing information and tailored counselling to Third Country Nationals interested in returning to their countries of origin. It supports the application process, documentation, and coordination with relevant authorities and stakeholders to facilitate AVRR assistance. The incumbent will contribute to the project's success by ensuring efficient service delivery and accurate reporting, ultimately supporting IOM's mission to aid migrants and promote orderly migration processes.
Responsibilities
Key duties include establishing and maintaining contact with local stakeholders such as municipalities, NGOs, and diaspora groups to support AVRR information dissemination and referral mechanisms. The role involves providing AVRR information sessions and personalized counselling to Third Country Nationals interested in voluntary return. Responsibilities also include assisting migrants in completing AVRR applications, submitting them to competent authorities, and managing case files. The incumbent will disseminate project information materials, coordinate with police headquarters and prefectures for application processing, and assist in organizing transportation for medical and non-medical cases. Additionally, the role requires collecting data for statistical reporting, contributing to success stories, and performing other project-related tasks as assigned.
Work Experience
Requires at least two years of experience in the migration sector, including direct assistance to vulnerable migrant populations. Proven experience working with Italian institutions at central and local levels, civil society, and diaspora groups is necessary. Experience in a multicultural team is also required. Previous experience in AVRR counselling is considered an asset.
