Organizational Context
IOM Brazil Country Office supports migrants and host communities, working with the Federal Government to ensure well-managed migration that benefits all, with a focus on protecting vulnerable populations. The Programme Unit designs and implements programs in migration governance, humanitarian assistance, public policy, and counter-trafficking, supporting emergency responses.
Job Purpose
The Senior Inter-Agency Mechanisms Assistant will provide crucial support to the Programme Support Unit within IOM Brazil. This role is integral to the effective functioning of the R4V Platform and UNSDCF Results Group 5. The incumbent will contribute to programmatic design and implementation, focusing on areas such as migration governance, humanitarian assistance, and strengthening public policies for migrants. The position plays a key role in ensuring migration is managed effectively and benefits all, with a particular emphasis on protecting vulnerable individuals and upholding their rights.
Responsibilities
Provide administrative and procurement assistance for Programme Support Unit activities. Facilitate and document inter-agency meetings, ensuring timely dissemination of minutes. Draft thematic reports, situational reports, and other relevant documents. Manage knowledge on the R4V Platform and SharePoint, curating and uploading content. Support text editing, proofreading, and translation of materials to ensure high-quality outputs. Monitor sector activities, identify challenges, and support capacity building. Track the implementation of the RMRP and GR5 in coordination with UNHCR and relevant working groups. Prepare presentations and reports for meetings and external audiences. Provide technical support for institutional reports and perform other related tasks as required.
Work Experience
Requires experience in translation, revision of technical documents, technical writing, editing, and reporting. Experience working with government, civil society, UN, or private sector actors, and with UN operational systems is beneficial. Prior experience in migration-related fields and proficiency with MS Office, including databases, are necessary.
Skills
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to assist in developing training materials, capacity to work collaboratively, problem-solving skills for project support, and proactiveness are essential. Fluency in English and Portuguese is required; Spanish is advantageous.
