Job Purpose
The Protection Associate (Assessments and Referrals) supports the implementation of pre-departure activities in line with IOM procedures. This role is crucial for the timely and orderly collection and processing of migrant information before their departure, which directly facilitates their return and subsequent reintegration process. The position operates under the supervision of the Senior Protection Coordinator and the National Protection Officer (VHR), contributing to IOM's broader mission of assisting and protecting people on the move.
Responsibilities
The Protection Associate is responsible for receiving and processing referrals from various sources, conducting screening activities, and categorizing cases for Assisted Voluntary Return (AVR) or Assistance to Vulnerable Migrants (AVM). This includes accurately collecting biodata, documentation, and protection information, and entering/updating assessments in MiMOSA with supporting documents. The role involves verifying paperwork, referring cases to relevant IOM units or external partners, and following up on referred cases to ensure appropriate assistance. Additionally, the Associate supports the handover of travel-ready cases, conducts field missions, maintains case records, adheres to protection principles, and participates in information sessions. They also manage nationality-specific information sharing, track case progress, and contribute to reporting on case quality indicators.
Work Experience
Previous experience with NGOs or international organizations is advantageous. Demonstrated accuracy in data handling and reporting is required, along with strong computer skills.
Skills
Intermediate MS Office skills, strong organizational skills, and good communication skills.
