Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to ensure continuity, coherence, and technical quality in media and communications interventions for IOM Burundi, with a focus on Ebola preparedness and response. The role is crucial for strengthening public awareness, promoting preventive behaviors, and disseminating accurate, evidence-based information. The consultant will develop, manage, coordinate, and implement communication strategies to support public health responses and promote accurate narratives on migration and Ebola preparedness among media, UN partners, stakeholders, and the public.
Responsibilities
Develop communication plans for public health interventions like Ebola preparedness, ensuring alignment with program objectives and donor visibility requirements. Document IOM activities through photography and develop human-interest stories. Coordinate the review of communication materials, speeches, and talking points, ensuring accurate messaging. Contribute to mission communication tools, including newsletters, social media, and websites, with a focus on public health priorities. Engage with media for press material release and dissemination of information on IOM interventions. Design and coordinate the production of visibility materials for field activities. Liaise with program staff, senior management, and UN partners to enhance visibility, strategic communication, and support joint initiatives.
Work Experience
Familiarity with international development and humanitarian interventions is needed. Experience in technical writing, editing, outreach, and communication in English and French is required. Familiarity with international organizations and migration issues is advantageous, with knowledge of the Burundi context being a plus.
Skills
Knowledge of graphic design, web, social media, and video production is required. Fluency in French and English (oral and written) is essential.
