Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a UN-related agency dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. IOM Indonesia, operational for over four decades, is a significant mission collaborating with government, civil society, and other stakeholders. The Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) Division specifically strengthens member states' capabilities in migration and border management.
Job Purpose
The Project Associate (IBG) in Jakarta will facilitate the execution and delivery of border management programmes under the supervision of the Senior Project Associate and Programme Manager. This role involves supporting project activities, offering clerical assistance for project development, and contributing to IOM's commitment to orderly, safe, and regular migration. The position is crucial for strengthening policy, legislation, operational systems, and administrative structures within the IBG division, aligning with IOM's broader objectives in migration governance.
Responsibilities
Support collaboration and liaison with IBG partners, beneficiaries, and stakeholders, including government and civil society. Assist in implementing IBG project activities such as coordination meetings, outreach, and capacity building. Monitor day-to-day project activities and operational/administrative tasks according to IOM procedures. Draft work plans, concept notes, ToRs, and activity/workshop reports. Prepare and update reports, briefing notes, and other documentation. Monitor project activities, utilize verification means, and recommend risk mitigation. Support donor reporting and participate in meetings. Assist in coordinating implementation activities with relevant local authorities, government, private sector, UN agencies, and NGOs. Perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Requires experience in project implementation and development, including delivering training to stakeholders. Experience in facilitating community outreach, trainings, workshops, and coordination meetings is necessary. Experience in supporting capacity building, donor reporting, and liaising with governmental authorities and international organizations is beneficial. Must be able to work independently, manage workload under pressure, and demonstrate ability to work in multicultural environments.
Skills
Solid knowledge of migration, border governance, and related regulations. Strong analytical, creative thinking, and writing skills. Good facilitation and presentation abilities. Proficient in written and oral English and Bahasa Indonesia. Strong liaison and networking skills. High computer literacy with Microsoft Office. Ability to work effectively in multicultural settings. Willingness to travel.
