Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a UN agency promoting humane and orderly migration. In Ecuador, IOM collaborates with various partners to implement programs focused on the socioeconomic inclusion of migrants and host communities. This role supports the Socioeconomic Inclusion and Labor Migration (LMI) Unit, contributing to initiatives that enhance employability, training, income generation, and business development.
Job Purpose
This consultancy provides essential technical and operational support to the IOM's Socioeconomic Inclusion and Labor Migration (LMI) Unit in Ecuador. The role is crucial for the effective implementation and monitoring of projects aimed at fostering socioeconomic inclusion and improving labor market integration for individuals in situations of human mobility and host communities. The consultant will assist in coordinating activities, reviewing documentation, managing information, and monitoring progress across various initiatives, including dual education programs, entrepreneurship support, and the Enterprise Development Fund (EDF). The purpose is to ensure the smooth execution of the unit's mandate and contribute to tangible outcomes for beneficiaries over a six-month contract period.
Responsibilities
The consultant will provide technical and operational assistance to the Socioeconomic Inclusion and Labor Migration (LMI) Unit. Key responsibilities include supporting the planning, coordination, and monitoring of unit activities and projects, such as dual education, entrepreneurship, and the Enterprise Development Fund (EDF). This involves tracking consultants, suppliers, and implementing partners, and reviewing their work plans, progress, and deliverables. The role requires reviewing and analyzing technical and programmatic documents, providing recommendations, and supporting the implementation of entrepreneurship and business development initiatives. The consultant will also assist in monitoring project indicators, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing reports. Additionally, they will develop and update management tools, participate in meetings and field visits, track action items, identify risks and propose solutions, and provide general assistance as needed within the unit's scope.
Work Experience
Minimum of two years of professional experience in consulting or related areas. Experience in socioeconomic inclusion, livelihoods, employability, vocational training, dual education, entrepreneurship, business development, or SME strengthening is required.
Skills
Proficiency in technical and operational project monitoring, document review, and data analysis. Knowledge of the Ecuadorian socioeconomic context, entrepreneurship methodologies, and inclusion approaches. Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with databases and tracking matrices. Strong analytical, reporting, and organizational skills. Experience with international organizations is a plus.
