Senior Programme Associate
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Poland seeks a Senior Programme Associate to support the implementation of Protection (PX) and Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) activities. This role operates under the Chief of Mission and National Programme Officer, focusing on analysis, expertise, and stakeholder liaison within Poland.
Job Purpose
The Senior Programme Associate will directly support the implementation of Protection and Immigration and Border Governance activities in Poland, working under the supervision of the Chief of Mission and National Programme Officer. The role involves overseeing and executing project activities, providing expert analysis on migrant rights and procedures, particularly for those in reception, accommodation, and detention centers. A key function is liaising with various stakeholders, including governmental bodies and other entities, and coordinating a team of cultural mediators to ensure the effective delivery of protection interventions and support the overall mandate of IOM in the region.
Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate project implementation, monitoring activities, and analyzing challenges to adjust work plans. Research, compile, and analyze information on migration developments, legislation, and reports. Monitor budget expenditures and financial aspects in line with IOM policies and donor requirements. Plan and conduct capacity-building workshops for internal and external parties. Maintain liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, and other stakeholders. Prepare correspondence, reports, and ensure timely submission of status updates. Document best practices and lessons learned, contributing to SOPs and new project development. Supervise and train reporting staff. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Experience
Experience is required in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience delivering legal information to migrants in reception/detention centers, developing/conducting migration law trainings, and supervising a team is essential. Prior work in a multicultural setting with international humanitarian organizations is advantageous.
Skills
Knowledge of migration subjects (Protection, IBG). Expertise in Polish migrant rights legal framework. Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication, negotiation, and cross-cultural interpersonal skills. Client-oriented approach with efficiency and proactivity. Advanced Microsoft Office and administrative skills. Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision. Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles.
