Job Purpose
The Caseworker - Protection role is designed to support programs assisting Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection (BOTP) in Ireland, particularly those facing barriers to independence in state accommodation settings. The purpose is to provide individualized, protection-focused casework, including vulnerability assessments, needs identification, and referrals to appropriate support services. This position contributes to ensuring that BOTPs receive the necessary assistance to overcome challenges and achieve independence, aligning with IOM's mandate to protect people on the move and facilitate solutions to displacement. The role operates under the supervision of the Head of Unit and the Senior Protection Associate.
Responsibilities
Key duties include assisting in the implementation and monitoring of project activities, retrieving, compiling, and analyzing data on project topics, and supporting the Protection strategy through research. The Caseworker will conduct vulnerability screenings, utilize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for supporting BOTPs in state accommodation, and coordinate with focal points at accommodation centers. Responsibilities also involve disseminating information to BOTPs, providing translation/interpretation services as needed, and drafting status reports to identify and address delivery gaps. The role includes drafting correspondence, preparing reports and documentation, responding to information requests, maintaining records, and organizing meetings. Participation in meetings with stakeholders, monitoring implementing partners, and reporting non-compliance are also required.
Work Experience
Required experience includes demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher) and general IT knowledge. Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups is essential. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government, or government institutions in a multicultural setting is considered an advantage.
