Job Purpose
The Senior Project Associate (Health) will independently lead and coordinate the implementation of health-related projects and interventions in Venezuela. This involves monitoring progress, analyzing challenges, and adjusting plans to suit the field environment. The role requires researching and presenting data on national and international health developments, managing project budgets, and ensuring compliance with IOM policies and donor requirements. A key aspect is coordinating financial, administrative, and technical project components, with a focus on health outcomes. The position also involves planning and conducting capacity-building workshops, liaising with various stakeholders, and preparing comprehensive reports on project progress and results.
Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate project implementation, including health interventions, and monitor activities to ensure adherence to plans. Analyze implementation challenges and propose adjustments to work plans. Research, compile, and analyze data on national and international health developments, presenting findings to relevant parties. Monitor budget expenditures, ensuring proper record-keeping of approved budgets and revisions for health activities. Coordinate financial, administrative, and technical aspects of the project, aligning with IOM policies and donor requirements. Plan and conduct capacity-building workshops on health-related topics. Maintain liaison and coordination with local authorities, health bodies, UN agencies, NGOs, and donors. Prepare correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, and narrative/financial reports, including health project updates. Document best practices and lessons learned from project implementation, contributing to SOPs and concept papers. Supervise and train reporting staff on project activities, including health components. Provide support to other health-related initiatives and project activities as assigned.
Work Experience
Experience liaising with governmental authorities, international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, and IDPs. Experience in applying public health procedures and supporting public health research through data collection and literature review. Experience in a multicultural setting with international humanitarian organizations is advantageous.
Skills
Basic knowledge of the project cycle in humanitarian/development programs. Strong coordination skills for working with health authorities and partners. Ability to adapt to multicultural environments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Familiarity with reviewing academic literature for public health programming. Good communication and strong work ethics.
