The Local Security Assistant role supports the Chief of Mission and Head of Sub-Office in implementing and coordinating security and administrative services within the Security Unit in Sfax, Tunisia. Job Purpose
The Local Security Assistant's primary purpose is to support the implementation and coordination of security and administrative services within the IOM Security Unit in Sfax, Tunisia. This role is crucial for ensuring the high quality and accuracy of security-related tasks, contributing to the overall safety and security of IOM operations and personnel. The incumbent will assist in monitoring security situations, maintaining networking with security stakeholders, and implementing security procedures. Additionally, the role involves contributing to the development of security plans, conducting security assessments, and providing security briefings. The position also supports the implementation of audit recommendations for the IOM Safety & Security function, fostering a client-oriented, quality, and results-driven approach.
Responsibilities
The Local Security Assistant is responsible for monitoring the local security situation in Sfax and providing timely security information through regular and flash reports to the Head of Sub Office (HoSO). This includes maintaining effective networking with security stakeholders and attending relevant security meetings. The role involves ensuring office security by monitoring access and egress, conducting interior patrols, and reporting any security breaches or unusual activities. The Assistant will contribute to security assessments, provide input for contingency plans and policies, and manage staff security files and the Warden System. Furthermore, the position requires conducting security briefings for new arrivals, escorting staff on field missions, and reporting significant incidents. The Assistant may also be required to report for duty during holidays or after working hours to support emergency programs.
Work Experience
Experience in the organization and operational execution of security management systems, whether in the private sector or otherwise, is an added advantage. Previous experience in dealing with law enforcement agencies is also beneficial for this role.
