Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Tunisia seeks a Case Worker. This role operates under the Chief of Mission and Project Manager, with direct supervision from the Protection Officer. Key responsibilities include conducting screening interviews to assess migrant vulnerability and needs, and determining eligibility for IOM assistance. The Case Worker will refer eligible beneficiaries to appropriate services such as medical, psychosocial, legal, and assisted voluntary return programs. Providing information and counseling on available services in Tunisia, including social and medical support, is essential. The role involves facilitating orientation sessions, following up on referrals with partner organizations, and supporting case management to identify solutions for migrants. Additionally, the Case Worker will assist in preparing financial documents for direct assistance, planning and implementing outreach activities, and maintaining detailed case reports and statistical data in compliance with data protection standards. Upholding professional and empathetic conduct towards migrants is paramount.
Work Experience
Proven experience in assisting migrants or conducting humanitarian activities for vulnerable individuals is required. Experience working with governmental bodies, UN agencies, or other national/international institutions is necessary. Experience with non-governmental organizations is considered an asset. Knowledge of migration and health issues specific to Tunisia and the region is advantageous.
Skills
Strong drafting and clear oral communication skills are essential. Proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access, is required. Fluency in French (oral and written) is mandatory, with working knowledge of Arabic and English being desirable.
