IOM, established in 1951, is the leading UN agency for migration, promoting humane and orderly migration globally. It works with partners to save lives, protect people on the move, and facilitate regular migration pathways. Türkiye hosts the world's largest refugee population, facing significant integration challenges exacerbated by recent earthquakes. The "Promoting Sustainable and Socially Inclusive Labour Market Integration" project aims to address these issues.
Job Purpose
This role supports the "Promoting Sustainable and Socially Inclusive Labour Market Integration" project in Türkiye, which aims to increase formal employment for Syrian Temporary Protection (SuTPs), Persons Under International Protection (PuIPs), and host community members. The project, implemented by IOM in partnership with key Turkish ministries, seeks to strengthen institutional capacities for employability and integration services. The Senior Project Associate will contribute to enhancing the employability and community integration of targeted populations, promoting respect for diversity, and paying special attention to vulnerable groups. The role is crucial for the successful implementation of project activities and achieving its objectives in a complex and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
The Senior Project Associate will assist in the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of project activities, ensuring effective budget management and reporting. Key duties include compiling and analyzing project data, acting as a focal point for administrative coordination and M&E activities, and drafting status reports and correspondence. The role involves organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions, and preparing relevant documentation. The Associate will maintain liaison with diverse stakeholders, including government authorities, partners, and UN agencies, and monitor the work of implementing partners. Additionally, the position may involve providing guidance to other staff, assisting in the development of project documents, and performing other assigned duties to support project objectives.
Work Experience
Required experience includes liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants and refugees is essential. Prior experience in a multicultural setting with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions is advantageous. Experience in managing projects related to labour migration, employment, or entrepreneurship, along with knowledge of IOM's regulatory framework, is beneficial.
Skills
In-depth knowledge of migration-related subject areas. Understanding of UN and bilateral donor programming. Familiarity with financial rules and regulations. Fluency in English and Turkish (oral and written) is required.
