Organizational Context
IOM, established in 1951, is the leading UN agency for migration, promoting humane and orderly migration globally. Türkiye hosts the largest refugee population, facing challenges in social and economic integration, exacerbated by recent earthquakes. The "Promoting Sustainable and Socially Inclusive Labour Market Integration" project aims to address these issues by increasing formal employment and strengthening harmonization processes.
Job Purpose
This Project Associate role supports the "Promoting Sustainable and Socially Inclusive Labour Market Integration" project in Türkiye. The project aims to enhance the employability and integration of Syrian Temporary Protection (SuTPs), Persons Under International Protection (PuIPs), and host community members. The Associate will contribute to strengthening institutional capacities for delivering effective employability and integration services. This involves assisting in project implementation, monitoring, data analysis, and administrative coordination, ensuring the project effectively supports vulnerable groups and promotes respect and inclusion within the host communities, working in partnership with national and local authorities.
Responsibilities
The Project Associate will assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities, including retrieving, compiling, and analyzing project-related data. Responsibilities include monitoring budgets, verifying fund availability, and updating financial information. The role involves acting as a focal point for administrative coordination, liaising with internal and external parties, and drafting status reports and correspondence. The Associate will prepare and update project documentation, respond to information requests, maintain files, and organize meetings and workshops. Participation in meetings with stakeholders, monitoring implementing partners, and providing guidance to junior staff are also key duties, alongside performing other assigned tasks.
Work Experience
Required experience includes liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, and other vulnerable groups is essential. Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations or in a multicultural setting within government or non-government institutions is advantageous.
Skills
In-depth knowledge of migration-related subject areas. Familiarity with UN and bilateral donor programming. Understanding of financial rules and regulations.
