Project Associate - Labour Mobility, Social Inclusion & Resettlement

This Project Associate role supports the management of the Unit’s projects under the Chief of Mission in the Netherlands.
Job Purpose
The Project Associate is responsible for supporting the management of projects within the Labour Mobility, Social Inclusion & Resettlement Unit. This involves assisting in the implementation and monitoring of project activities, retrieving, compiling, and analyzing data, and acting as a focal point for administrative coordination. The role requires liaising with diverse organizational units and external parties to ensure smooth project execution. The associate will also draft reports, respond to information requests, organize meetings, and participate in relevant conferences. Additionally, they will assist in monitoring implementing partners and provide guidance to junior staff, contributing to the overall success and delivery of project objectives.
Responsibilities
Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities, including retrieving, compiling, summarizing, and analyzing project-related data. Monitor project budgets by verifying fund availability, obtaining necessary approvals, and updating budget information. Serve as the administrative coordination focal point for project implementation, liaising extensively with internal units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain clearances, and process administrative actions. Draft status reports, identify shortfalls, escalate issues to the supervisor, and propose remedial actions. Prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, and other documentation. Respond to complex information requests, maintain files, and organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions. Participate in meetings and conferences to coordinate implementation activities with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, and other stakeholders. Assist in monitoring Implementing Partners (IPs) and report non-compliances. Provide guidance and training to new/junior staff.
Work Experience
Required experience includes liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups is essential. Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations or in a multicultural setting is advantageous. Experience with project development is also considered an advantage.
Skills
Familiarity with Dutch asylum, migration, and integration legislation, policies, and their application. Working knowledge of Dutch and European migration law. Understanding of migration issues and trends in the Netherlands, particularly concerning Labour Mobility, Social Inclusion, Resettlement, and Family Reunification. Good writing, administrative, and analytical skills.
