Programme Associate (migrant Training)
Organizational Context
IOM's Movement Operations, a core mandate since 1951, facilitate the organized movement of persons needing international migration assistance. Movement Operations Units globally, coordinated by HQ, manage all travel aspects for migrants and refugees. Migrant Training activities, including Pre-Departure, Cultural, and Post-Arrival Orientation, are integral to equipping migrants for successful integration and self-sufficiency in destination countries.
Job Purpose
The Programme Associate (Migrant Training) supports IOM's core mandate of facilitating organized migration by delivering essential training to migrants. This role is crucial for equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills needed for successful integration and self-sufficiency in their destination countries. By facilitating Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO), Cultural Orientation (CO), and Post-Arrival Orientation (PAO) sessions, the associate directly contributes to the effectiveness of IOM's global migrant training programmes. The position operates under the supervision of the Movements and Operations Manager and the Senior Cultural Orientation Trainer, ensuring alignment with program objectives and standards.
Responsibilities
Facilitate engaging, participant-centered migrant training activities, contributing to course plan drafting and material development. Schedule training sessions, invite beneficiaries, provide logistical support, distribute materials, and maintain attendance records. Contribute to narrative and statistical reports, ensuring data confidentiality and integrity. Participate in professional development, share best practices, and stay updated on destination country information. Demonstrate in-depth understanding of destination countries and migration pathways, adhering strictly to program requirements and standard operating procedures. Provide regular feedback to supervisors, report issues, and alert management to safeguarding or non-compliance concerns. Support monitoring and guidance of junior staff as needed. Undertake duty travel for meetings and program activities. Uphold RMM Protection Mainstreaming Minimum Standards and IOM Standards of Conduct, reporting any non-compliance.
Work Experience
Experience in managing educational programs and teaching in cross-cultural settings. Understanding of migrant training programs and resettlement contexts in destination countries. Proficiency in IOM-RMM proprietary tools and systems is demonstrated.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate and lead a team. Attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills. Knowledge of best practices in adult and youth learning. Highly motivated with a strong interest in humanitarian dynamics and resilience to manage work pressure.
