Job Purpose
The Project Associate will provide essential support to the Climate Mobility Innovation Lab (CMIL) Mediterranean hub, focusing on project monitoring and administrative functions for CMIL Mediterranean project activities. This role is crucial for ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant management of operations. The incumbent will assist with programme-specific finance needs, including budget monitoring and financial tracking, and will coordinate administrative tasks. By ensuring adherence to IOM financial rules, procedures, and donor requirements, this position directly contributes to the effective implementation of innovative solutions addressing migration and climate change issues within the region.
Responsibilities
Assist with project operations, including administrative and financial monitoring of activities. Retrieve, compile, analyze, and present financial data for project needs. Monitor budgets, verify fund availability, obtain approvals, and update budget information. Support administrative coordination by liaising with internal units and external parties to process requests and follow up on actions. Draft status reports, identify compliance issues, and suggest remedies. Prepare correspondence, reports, briefing notes, and other documentation. Respond to information requests, maintain files, and organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions. Assist in monitoring internal workflows, including procurement processes. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Experience
Experience in finance, accounting, budget monitoring, or administrative support, preferably in an international organization or UN agency. Proven experience in budget monitoring, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting. Familiarity with financial rules, procedures, and internal controls is required. Experience liaising with various stakeholders on finance and budget matters is beneficial.
Skills
Proficiency in financial administration, budget monitoring, and basic accounting principles. Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple financial and administrative tasks within deadlines. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data processing and reporting. Proficiency in standard office software and financial or ERP systems.
