It provides administrative visa services for the Republic of Korea's Embassy/Consulate through its European Visa Application Centers. This internship supports the Korea Visa Application Centre (KVAC) in the UK, assisting with daily operational activities under the Team Leader.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this internship is to engage talented students or recent graduates who are interested in the International Organization for Migration's (IOM) programmes and activities, particularly in the field of migration services. IOM, as a UN-related agency, is committed to promoting humane and orderly migration, protecting people on the move, and facilitating efficient processes. This role directly contributes to IOM's mandate by supporting the administrative visa-related services provided to the Embassy and Consulate of the Republic of Korea (ROK) through the Korea Visa Application Centre (KVAC). The intern will be instrumental in assisting with the daily operational activities of the KVAC, thereby enhancing the efficiency and convenience of the visa application process for applicants. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience within an international humanitarian and development organization, contributing to critical service delivery.
Responsibilities
The intern will provide comprehensive support to the Korea Visa Application Centre (KVAC) team, ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of daily operational activities. A primary duty involves the meticulous handling of visa application logistics, including the systematic receipt and sorting of applications delivered by post, precise management of passport and document movements, and the accurate organization of supporting documents according to established checklists. The role also encompasses crucial communication with beneficiaries, strictly adhering to standard operating procedures, to effectively follow up on missing documents or facilitate passport collection, thereby ensuring a seamless applicant experience. Furthermore, the intern will contribute significantly to the administrative functions by assisting the KVAC team in the diligent preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports, which are vital for monitoring performance and informing decision-making. Active participation in project meetings and training sessions with the project coordinator and other KVAC teams across Europe is also expected, fostering collaboration and enhancing service delivery consistency. The intern will also undertake any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor to support the overall objectives and effective functioning of the KVAC.
Work Experience
Candidates should possess less than two years of relevant working experience. Essential experience includes a high level of computer literacy, particularly with standard MS Office products and specific proficiency in MS Excel. First-hand experience in customer service or providing assistance to the public is also required. The ability to work effectively and harmoniously within an international team environment is crucial.
