Job Purpose
This Project Associate (Public Health) role is responsible for the implementation of public health activities within their assigned duty station in Guinea. The position operates under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the National Public Health Coordinator. The role involves coordinating day-to-day project activities, monitoring progress, and ensuring timely delivery of planned initiatives. A key aspect is collaborating with various stakeholders, including government health authorities, UN agencies, and NGOs, to facilitate smooth project execution and information sharing. The role also contributes to data collection, analysis, and reporting to support evidence-based decision-making and program monitoring.
Responsibilities
Coordinate the daily implementation, monitoring, and follow-up of public health project activities, focusing on International Health Regulations, disease surveillance, outbreak preparedness, immunization support, and strengthening capacities at points of entry and border communities. Support the development and operationalization of workplans, schedules, and monitoring tools, ensuring timely delivery with internal units and external counterparts. Liaise with the Ministry of Health, ANSS, DNELM, regional health directorates, local authorities, UN agencies, and NGOs for coordination and smooth implementation. Collect, verify, compile, and analyze project data, ensuring quality and consistency. Maintain databases, trackers, and dashboards for monitoring and reporting. Draft and review reports, updates, and other documentation. Provide administrative and logistical coordination for trainings, workshops, and field missions. Monitor activities against workplans and budgets, track expenditures, and flag issues to the supervisor. Provide guidance to field staff and partners, and review their deliverables. Participate in field monitoring visits to assess progress, document challenges, and propose improvements. Support public health emergency preparedness and response activities. Contribute to project proposals and planning documents. Ensure proper filing and archiving of project documents. Facilitate information exchange between public health projects and other IOM units.
Work Experience
Experience liaising with governmental public health authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Good knowledge of the Guinean health system. Practical experience in data entry, basic data management, and MS Office applications. Experience in a multicultural environment with international organizations or NGOs is advantageous.
Skills
In-depth knowledge of public health activities, such as immunization. Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming.
