Project Assistant (climate Mobility Communications) (fiji Nationals Only)
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is a leading UN agency promoting humane and orderly migration. The Project Assistant (Climate Mobility Communications) role is based in Suva, Fiji, within the IOM Coordination Office for the South Pacific. This position supports the Pacific Climate Mobility Partnerships Programme (PCMP) and other climate mobility initiatives, working with regional partners to advance climate mobility action across the Pacific.
Job Purpose
The Project Assistant (Climate Mobility Communications) provides essential clerical and administrative support for communications, media, visibility, and outreach activities under the Climate Mobility Programme. This role is crucial for assisting in the preparation of diverse communication products, including digital content, event materials, and outreach initiatives. The primary objective is to enhance awareness of climate mobility priorities and showcase programme achievements throughout the Pacific region. The incumbent will collaborate closely with the IOM Coordination Office, the Media and Communications team, implementing partners, government counterparts, regional organizations, and other stakeholders to effectively disseminate approved programme information and communication materials, thereby contributing to the successful implementation of regional climate mobility strategies.
Responsibilities
Provide clerical assistance for the Pacific Climate Mobility Partnerships Programme and related climate mobility activities. Compile, summarize, and present data related to media, communications, and visibility efforts. Monitor and update communication materials. Support administrative coordination for project implementation, including processing requests, maintaining records, and following up on actions. Draft routine reports, correspondence, briefing notes, and presentations. Assist in organizing media and communications coverage for events. Respond to general inquiries and manage filing systems, including digital assets like pictures and videos. Perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Experience providing administrative or clerical support is advantageous. Experience supporting communications, media, events, or outreach activities is desirable. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or governmental/non-governmental institutions in a multicultural setting is beneficial.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Desirable: Basic knowledge of graphic design, photography, and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva). Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage electronic and paper filing systems. Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals.
