Senior Compliance Associate

Organizational Context

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Ukraine seeks a Senior Compliance Associate to support its compliance, risk management, accountability, quality assurance, and governance functions. This role operates under the Chief of Mission and Head of Accountability and Quality Control Pillar, reporting to the National Risk Management and Compliance Officer. The position is crucial for ensuring adherence to IOM regulations and strengthening operational effectiveness.

Job Purpose

The Senior Compliance Associate is responsible for supporting the implementation of IOM Ukraine's compliance, risk management, accountability, quality assurance, and governance functions. This involves strengthening adherence to organizational regulations, policies, procedures, and donor requirements through proactive compliance monitoring, risk analysis, operational reviews, and stakeholder coordination. The role contributes to identifying and assessing risks, monitoring management actions, reviewing operational procedures, and implementing initiatives that enhance accountability, transparency, governance, and overall operational effectiveness across the Mission. By collaborating closely with various units, the incumbent facilitates consistent policy application, supports risk-informed decision-making, and promotes continuous improvement in Mission operations.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include conducting compliance monitoring and reviews to assess adherence to IOM regulations, policies, and donor requirements, identifying gaps, and recommending improvements. The role involves supporting risk management by reviewing risk registers, identifying emerging risks, and monitoring mitigation measures. Additionally, the Senior Compliance Associate will review operational procedures and internal controls, document governance gaps, and support accountability and quality assurance activities through reviews and analysis. Coordination of compliance-related actions, maintenance of tracking mechanisms, and preparation of compliance reports, dashboards, and analytical summaries are essential. The position also supports knowledge management, institutional learning, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement to promote a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.

Work Experience

Required experience includes supporting compliance, risk management, and accountability functions; reviewing operational procedures and documentation; coordinating and tracking compliance matters across multiple stakeholders; administering knowledge management systems (e.g., SharePoint, Excel); and experience in capacity-building activities.

Key skills include strong organizational and prioritization abilities, excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, independence, initiative, strong interpersonal and coordination skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint, and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
