Job Purpose
This role contributes to a project providing Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) to Afghan nationals in Al-Saliyah Camp, Qatar. The project aims to offer prompt and effective psychological counseling and specialized mental health services, including assessments, individual support, referrals, and group activities focused on resilience and social cohesion. The consultant's purpose is to enhance the quality of life and alleviate psychological pressures faced by this vulnerable displaced population through music-based interventions, as part of broader humanitarian efforts.
Responsibilities
The consultant will utilize music as a tool for emotional expression and stress reduction, fostering self-confidence, creativity, and social connectedness in a safe environment. Responsibilities include developing structured music session plans, leading individual and group activities that encourage self-expression and emotional exploration, and supporting participants in developing healthy coping strategies. The role involves identifying individuals needing further support and referring them to the MHPSS team, promoting respect, diversity, and inclusion. Additionally, the consultant will provide group counseling, submit session reports, and maintain confidentiality of beneficiary information.
Work Experience
Three years of relevant professional experience is required. Experience working with diverse populations, including migrants, youth, adults, or vulnerable groups, and demonstrated ability to facilitate group activities is desirable. Field experience in community-based, educational, humanitarian, or psychosocial support programs is an asset.
