The Senior Project Associate - Infrastructure Support role operates under the Chief of Mission and Programme Coordinator, providing crucial technical support for infrastructure projects across the Mission.
Job Purpose
The Senior Project Associate - Infrastructure Support role is responsible for providing comprehensive technical support to the planning, design, implementation, monitoring, and quality assurance of infrastructure construction, rehabilitation, and refurbishment projects within the IOM Mission. This position ensures that all engineering-related activities comply with IOM procedures, donor requirements, national regulations, and applicable technical standards. The incumbent will support various thematic units, contributing to the successful execution of infrastructure initiatives that align with IOM's mandate to promote humane and orderly migration and support people on the move. This role is vital for ensuring the integrity and effectiveness of IOM's physical infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support for the planning, design, implementation, supervision, and monitoring of infrastructure construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance projects. Conduct technical assessments, site inspections, and feasibility reviews to identify needs and recommend engineering solutions. Prepare and review technical documents, including Terms of Reference, specifications, designs, BoQs, cost estimates, and scopes of work. Review engineering deliverables from consultants and contractors, identifying and addressing any issues. Monitor construction progress and contractor performance, reporting observations. Conduct site visits and review completed works and documentation. Coordinate with programme, procurement, logistics, and finance units for timely project implementation. Prepare technical reports, assessments, and project management documents. Support project proposal preparation and procurement processes, ensuring compliance with requirements.
Work Experience
Experience in infrastructure project implementation, construction supervision, design review, or engineering consultancy. Experience with rehabilitation, refurbishment, interior works, and technical equipment installation is advantageous. Experience working with construction contractors, consultants, or service providers is beneficial. Knowledge of national construction regulations and standards is an advantage.
Skills
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and BoQs. Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and project monitoring tools. Strong analytical skills for identifying technical issues and solutions. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and multitasking ability. Good communication and coordination skills with diverse stakeholders.
