This role supports the 'Helios+' project in North Aegean, Greece, aiming to integrate third-country nationals into the labor market through various support activities.
Job Purpose
The Interpreter (Farsi) role is crucial for the 'Helios+' project in North Aegean, Greece, which focuses on integrating beneficiaries of international protection and temporary protection into Greek society. The primary purpose of this position is to provide essential interpretation and translation services, facilitating communication between IOM staff, beneficiaries, and relevant authorities. This support is vital for the successful implementation of project activities, including employability support, language courses, vocational training, and independent living assistance, ultimately contributing to social cohesion and inclusion for migrants.
Responsibilities
The Interpreter will build trust with beneficiaries and assist with interpretation and cultural mediation. Responsibilities include responding to helpline calls, identifying issues, reporting them, and recording calls. The role involves developing and maintaining positive relationships with beneficiaries and stakeholders to ensure effective project implementation. Additionally, the interpreter will identify barriers to service access, translate documents for beneficiaries, and assist in mediation activities objectively. General support to other project staff during activities and performing other assigned duties are also key responsibilities.
Work Experience
Previous work experience in a similar interpreter role is required. Experience working in a multi-cultural environment is preferred.
Skills
Fluency in English and Greek (oral and written) is required. Fluency in Farsi (written and oral) is also required. Computer literacy in standard software applications and strong work ethics are necessary. A valid driver's license with at least five years of driving experience is an advantage.
