This role contributes to the 3R (Response, Resilience and Recovery) Unit, specifically within the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) team in Ukraine.

Job Purpose

The MHPSS Psychosocial Worker is part of a mobile team providing community-based mental health and psychosocial support in Ukraine, addressing increased needs due to the ongoing humanitarian crisis. The role aims to enhance community and family resilience by delivering services, organizing capacity-building and awareness sessions, and facilitating recreational activities. This position supports local initiatives and territorial communities, contributing to recovery efforts and preparedness for future emergencies. The work aligns with IOM's global MHPSS standards and aims to make services accessible to vulnerable groups, including those with mobility challenges.

Responsibilities

The MHPSS Psychosocial Worker will collaborate with the Senior MHPSS Associate to integrate MHPSS into community activities, following IASC guidelines. Key duties include conducting training sessions on Psychological First Aid (PFA), stress management, and community-based approaches for various stakeholders. The role involves supporting social networks, organizing support groups, and facilitating cultural and recreational initiatives to enhance well-being. Providing individual and group counselling, developing awareness messages, and assisting with MHPSS needs assessments and data collection are also core responsibilities. The worker will support partnership management with local implementers, implement MHPSS components of integrated programs, and undertake travel across Ukraine, including readiness for emergency response. Accurate reporting, data entry, and ensuring donor visibility are also required.

Work Experience

A minimum of 2 years of working experience is required. Previous experience in mental health, social and protection activities in related areas of intervention is considered an advantage. Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds is also beneficial.
