Organizational Context
The IOM Costa Rica implements a project focused on the socioeconomic integration of migrants. The initiative supports access to legal status, basic services (housing, health, psychosocial support), and livelihood opportunities. Activities are community-based within the Great Metropolitan Area (GAM), aiming to foster social connectedness and support migrants' integration. The Senior Project Associate (Case Management) will work on-site, coordinating case management activities under the supervision of the Integration Programme Coordinator.
Job Purpose
The Senior Project Associate (Case Management) plays a crucial role in the "Regular Migration Status and Socioeconomic Integration for Migrants" project in Costa Rica. The primary purpose of this role is to coordinate and oversee all case management activities, ensuring the successful integration of migrants who choose to remain in the country. This involves facilitating access to essential services like legal identity, housing, healthcare, and psychosocial support, as well as educational and livelihood opportunities. By implementing a community-based approach, the role contributes to fostering social connectedness and supporting migrants through their integration journey, ultimately enhancing their socioeconomic stability and well-being within Costa Rica.
Responsibilities
Independently lead and coordinate project implementation, monitoring case management activities, and analyzing challenges to adjust work plans. Research and compile data on migrant integration developments, reports, and legislation. Monitor budget expenditures for managed caseloads, ensuring compliance with IOM policies and donor requirements. Plan, coordinate, and conduct capacity-building workshops for case managers and external parties. Maintain liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, and other stakeholders. Prepare correspondence, reports, and briefing notes, ensuring timely submission of status reports. Identify and document best practices and lessons learned, contributing to the development of Case Management Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies. Supervise and provide guidance and training to a team of project associates.
Work Experience
Required experience includes liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, and victims of trafficking is essential. Prior work experience in a multicultural setting with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions is advantageous.
