This role supports the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration Unit in Austria, complementing national mechanisms and focusing on vulnerable returnees.

Job Purpose

This Project Associate role is crucial for the implementation of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) projects within Austria. The position supports the AVRR Unit's mandate to enhance the Austrian return system by providing operational and needs-based assistance for safe, timely, and dignified returns and sustainable reintegration. A key focus is on assisting vulnerable individuals. The role also contributes to quality assurance through training and outreach, working in close coordination with IOM offices in countries of return and relevant stakeholders in Austria.

Responsibilities

The Project Associate will assist in the implementation, coordination, and monitoring of AVRR activities. This includes retrieving, analyzing, and presenting data, particularly for communication activities like website content. Responsibilities also involve budget monitoring, verifying fund availability, and coordinating communication-related expenses. The role requires drafting status reports, preparing documentation such as briefing notes and statistical tables, and responding to information requests. Additionally, the associate will help organize meetings and participate in coordinating implementation activities with various stakeholders, including local authorities and UN agencies, with a focus on communication efforts.

Work Experience

Required experience includes liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, and victims of trafficking is essential. Prior experience in a multicultural setting with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions is advantageous. Experience with website maintenance, content management, and analytics tools is also a plus.

Skills

Strong computer skills in Word, Excel, and Internet are required. In-depth knowledge of migration-related subject areas is essential. Project management skills, including monitoring, reporting, and financial controlling, are an asset. Moderation, presentation, research, and publication skills are also considered advantageous. Knowledge of the Austrian and/or European migration landscapes is beneficial.
