Job Purpose
This role supports the coordinator in implementing, monitoring, and reporting project activities. The position is crucial for ensuring the effective delivery of services to beneficiaries, aligning with IOM's mandate to assist migrants and refugees. The Social Worker will play a key part in addressing protection needs, conducting vulnerability assessments, and facilitating access to essential services. By managing individual cases and collaborating with various teams, the role directly contributes to IOM's mission of providing humane and orderly migration support, saving lives, and protecting vulnerable populations.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include daily monitoring of service providers to ensure contractual compliance and beneficiary needs are met. This involves cooperating with medical and psychosocial teams, reporting field challenges, and adhering to IOM's internal rules and SOPs. The role requires conducting vulnerability assessments for migrants and refugees, addressing protection needs, and referring cases to specialized agencies. It also involves managing protection cases, maintaining case files, updating databases, and informing beneficiaries of case progress. Additionally, the Social Worker will map available services, ensure beneficiary access, develop individual action plans, and participate in team meetings to discuss case management and identify risks or gaps. Escorting beneficiaries to health facilities and performing other assigned duties are also part of the role.
Work Experience
Previous experience in a similar role is preferred. Familiarity with direct assistance to migrants and/or refugees is advantageous. Experience working in a multi-cultural environment is also beneficial for this position.
Skills
Proficiency in standard software applications, including MS Office, is required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines is also essential.
