Organizational Context

This role supports the implementation of activities focused on enhancing migrants' access to legal identity and civil documentation, operating under the supervision of the Programme Coordinator and National Project Officer.

Job Purpose

This position is crucial for supporting the IOM's mandate in facilitating humane and orderly migration by directly contributing to initiatives that ensure migrants have access to essential legal identity and civil documentation. The role involves implementing and overseeing project activities, providing direct assistance to migrants in navigating documentation processes, and liaising with various stakeholders. By addressing barriers to civil registration and identity documents, the Senior Project Associate plays a vital part in protecting individuals on the move, supporting their integration, and upholding their rights, thereby reinforcing IOM's commitment to providing comprehensive services and advice to governments and migrants.

Responsibilities

The Senior Project Associate will manage individual cases, ensuring timely needs assessments, documentation, and referrals for migrants. Key duties include assisting migrants in obtaining or regularizing legal identity documents such as birth certificates and passports. The role involves compiling and analyzing data on documentation needs and barriers, and serving as a focal point for administrative coordination with authorities and partners. Responsibilities also include drafting reports, maintaining project documentation, organizing meetings and workshops, and liaising with local authorities and stakeholders. The associate will monitor implementing partners, contribute to SOP development, and may provide guidance or supervision to other staff.

Work Experience

Required experience includes working with or liaising with national governmental authorities, international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience in assisting migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups is essential. Prior experience in a multicultural setting with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions is advantageous.
