Job Purpose

The Programme Coordinator (Peace, Recovery, and Solutions) is responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of the Peace, Recovery, and Solutions programme portfolio within the IOM Kenya Mission. This involves ensuring the programme maintains high quality and adheres to IOM policies, standards, and donor requirements. The role requires overseeing all operational, administrative, and technical aspects, including financial management support. The coordinator will monitor programme delivery against workplans, budgets, and targets, identifying and addressing implementation challenges. A key aspect is adopting effective Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) practices to drive continuous improvement and ensure alignment with IOM guidelines.

Responsibilities

The Programme Coordinator will manage the Peace, Recovery, and Solutions programme portfolio, ensuring quality and compliance with IOM policies, standards, and donor requirements. This includes overseeing operational, administrative, and technical aspects, and supporting financial management. The role involves monitoring programme implementation to ensure timely delivery of results against workplans and budgets, and taking corrective actions as needed. Establishing and maintaining strong partnerships with the Government of Kenya, implementing partners, UN agencies, and local communities is crucial. The coordinator will represent IOM in relevant meetings and prepare regular programme reports for donors. Developing new projects focused on resilience-building, socio-economic development, and livelihood support for displacement-affected communities is also a key responsibility. Integrating resilience-building, gender, Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), environmental protection, and conflict sensitivity into programming is essential. The role also includes providing oversight for specific donor requirements, such as those from KOICA, and ensuring high-quality programme visibility.

Work Experience

Required experience includes professional work in livelihood and economic empowerment, WASH, climate change, and migration with UN agencies, public institutions, or international organizations. Experience in project management and development is essential. Proven experience in establishing and maintaining strong working relations with government counterparts, donors, CSO partners, and international organizations is necessary. Working experience with KOICA is considered a strong asset.

Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills. Good knowledge of project management and monitoring and evaluation principles and practices. Proven resource management skills with familiarity with budget/financial administration. Knowledge of broad migration-related subject areas.
