Job Purpose
This Project Assistant role is crucial for supporting the implementation of IOM's migration-related projects within Armenia. The incumbent will assist in the day-to-day execution of project activities, ensuring they align with IOM's mandate to promote humane and orderly migration. By providing essential administrative and logistical support, the position contributes to the effective delivery of services to migrants and governments. The role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, monitoring project progress, and ensuring compliance with organizational procedures. Ultimately, the Project Assistant helps IOM achieve its objectives in saving lives, protecting people on the move, and facilitating solutions to displacement and migration challenges in the region.
Responsibilities
The Project Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the implementation and monitoring of project activities, including retrieving, compiling, and summarizing project-related information. This includes monitoring budgets, verifying fund availability, and obtaining necessary approvals. The role involves providing administrative coordination, liaising with internal units and external parties, and processing administrative actions. The incumbent will draft status reports, identify delivery shortfalls, and prepare correspondence, reports, and other documentation. Additionally, the Project Assistant will organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions, respond to general inquiries, and maintain project files and records.
Work Experience
Required experience includes liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, and victims of trafficking is also necessary. Prior work experience in a multicultural setting with international humanitarian organizations or government/non-government institutions is considered an advantage.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, is required. Fluency in Armenian and English (oral and written) is essential. Working knowledge of Russian is desirable.
