Project Associate

G-5
Organizational Context
Türkiye hosts the world's largest refugee population, presenting significant integration challenges for authorities. The February 2023 earthquakes exacerbated these issues, impacting labour markets and social cohesion. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) implements the "Promoting Sustainable and Socially Inclusive Labour Market Integration" project to enhance employability and integration services for refugees and host communities.
Job Purpose
This Project Associate role supports the "Promoting Sustainable and Socially Inclusive Labour Market Integration" project in Türkiye, a country hosting over 4.6 million foreign nationals, including Syrians under Temporary Protection and Persons under International Protection. The project, implemented by IOM in partnership with key ministries, aims to increase formal employment and strengthen harmonization processes. The Associate will contribute to improving employability and integration services for targeted populations by strengthening institutional capacities at national and provincial levels. This involves promoting respect for diversity and focusing on vulnerable groups, ultimately contributing to better social and economic integration outcomes for refugees and host communities affected by migration and recent natural disasters.
Responsibilities
The Project Associate will assist in project implementation and monitoring, including retrieving, compiling, and analyzing data. Responsibilities include monitoring project budgets, liaising with diverse internal and external parties for administrative coordination, and drafting status reports to identify and address delivery shortfalls. The role involves preparing project-related documentation such as correspondence, reports, and briefing notes, and responding to information requests. The Associate will also organize meetings and workshops, participate in coordination activities with local authorities and partners, and monitor implementing partners' compliance. Additionally, the role includes providing guidance to junior staff and performing other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Required experience includes liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, and vulnerable groups is essential. Prior work experience within international humanitarian organizations, or non-government/government institutions in a multicultural setting is considered an advantage.
