Field Security Associate (two Positions)
Organizational Context
The Office of Staff Security (OSS) provides leadership on security policy management and operational support to IOM country offices, enabling program delivery while managing security risks. The Field Security Associate, based in Chuuk, FSM, will support the Field Security Support Officer in establishing and maintaining security awareness and managing security risks.
Job Purpose
The Field Security Associate will provide specialized support to enable IOM's activities and assist the Field Security Support Officer in all aspects of security risk management within the Chuuk Sub-Office. This role is crucial for establishing and maintaining an appropriate level of security awareness among IOM personnel in Chuuk, FSM, ensuring the effective implementation of IOM programs and activities while managing security risks at acceptable levels.
Responsibilities
Maintain relationships with UNDSS, government agencies, and local authorities for security information. Assist in collecting, updating, and communicating security situation information. Support the development and implementation of security plans, contingency plans, SOPs, and contribute to the Business Continuity Plan. Monitor staff compliance with safety and security protocols and training. Maintain updated staff and communication lists, ensuring operability of communication systems and timely dissemination of information. Assist in reporting security incidents and preparing security reports. Support the organization and delivery of security training and orientations. Provide support to field missions through constant communication and in-person assistance. Maintain an orderly filing system for security-related documents and databases.
Work Experience
Experience in the UN Security Management System (UNSMS) or an international NGO is advantageous. Experience in maritime security coordination, dealing with law enforcement, and radio communications is desirable. Military experience, particularly navy, is also an advantage. Successful completion of the UNDSS Field Security Associate (FSA) course is desirable.
Skills
Ability to collaborate with government security counterparts and stakeholders. Ability to work effectively with diverse colleagues. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams). Fluency in English and Chuukese is required. Working knowledge of any UN language is desirable.
